Position Overview

CDEV is seeking a Communications Associate

to strengthen the quality, consistency, and impact of communications across the organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Communications, the Communications Associate will develop clear, polished, and engaging materials that support the strong awareness of CDEV’s mandate and priorities.

The successful candidate will be a strong writer and organized communications professional who can lead files independently, translate complex information into accessible and compelling content, and support a range of internal and external communications needs, such as executive and employee messaging, publications, presentations, digital content.

Working closely with teams across CDEV and, where required, subsidiaries, the Communications Associate will provide practical communications support and recommendations that improve outcomes, strengthen processes, and contribute to a professional, consistent communications function.

The selected candidate will be based in either Toronto or Ottawa, currently with a hybrid work option.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and edit communications materials, such as employee updates, executive messages, presentations, briefing materials, website and social media content, news releases.
  • Coordinate the planning and production of corporate publications, announcements, presentations, and other recurring communications deliverables.

upport internal communications initiatives, including employee engagement activities, organizational updates, and change-related communications. - Manage and measure CDEV’s communications channels and tools, including the website, Linkedin and other social media channels, as well as templates and messaging documents. - Plan, draft, schedule, publish, and monitor social media content across LinkedIn and other platforms, as appropriate. - Develop and coordinate digital content, including graphics, infographics, short videos, and other materials aligned with CDEV’s brand and messaging. - Monitor media coverage as well as ongoing trends and escalating issues. - Measure and track the impact of communications activities to constantly improve communications outputs. - Work with CDEV teams and its subsidiaries to gather information, clarify communications needs, and deliver practical communications support. - Support events, announcements, and other internal or external communications activities as required. - Maintain strong quality control across communications materials, including accuracy, tone, formatting, accessibility, and brand consistency.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, business, or a related field.
  • Five+ years of progressively responsible experience in

communications, corporate communications, internal communications, digital communications, public relations, or a related field. - Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with demonstrated experience in developing clear, polished, and audience-specific communications materials. - Strong ability to translate complex business, financial, policy, or organizational information into clear and compelling content. - E

xperience managing communications channels and tools, including websites, social media platforms, templates, editorial calendars, and analytics. - Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work with limited oversight. - Sound judgment, discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail when handling sensitive, complex, or high-profile information. - Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams, gather information, provide practical recommendations, and build trusted working relationships. - P

roficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with content creation or communications tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, social media management platforms, website content management systems, or analytics tools. - Financial literacy and comfort working with business, economic, policy, or financial subject matter. - B

ilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset. - Experience working in or with government, Crown corporations, financial services, public policy, infrastructure, business, or other complex stakeholder environments is a strong asset.
