About The Role We are seeking an Entry-Level Full Stack Developer to join our Global Wealth Engineering team in Toronto, Ontario. This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or professionals with 2-4 years of experience to contribute to the modernization of client onboarding platforms for Scotia Wealth Management. As a key member of our agile development teams, you will be involved in designing, developing, and implementing full-stack applications that enhance the client experience. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers, architects, business stakeholders, and support teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business needs and technical standards.

This position emphasizes hands-on development, testing, and deployment of enterprise applications, with a focus on security, scalability, and performance. You will work with modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, and Node.js, and gain exposure to microservices, REST APIs, and event streaming platforms like Kafka or Google Pub/Sub. The role provides a platform for growth, learning, and making a meaningful impact within a dynamic financial services environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 2-4 years of full-stack development experience, including internships and/or professional roles
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful API development
  • Experience with modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, and Node.js
  • Basic knowledge of event streaming platforms like Kafka or Google Pub/Sub
  • Understanding of Google Cloud services (e.g., Cloud Run, Cloud Functions)
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Awareness of security protocols including SSL/TLS, OAuth2, and JWT
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and SDLC processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes is an asset
  • Knowledge of the financial services domain is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of full-stack applications for both internal and client-facing systems
  • Assist in building and maintaining components using frameworks like React, Next.js, and Node.js under guidance from senior engineers
  • Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with microservices and event streaming platforms such as Kafka or Google Pub/Sub
  • Participate in Agile team practices including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
  • Conduct code reviews, adhere to coding standards, and continuously enhance technical skills
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment workflows to ensure reliable delivery
  • Implement security best practices in application development, including secure coding and API design
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in both development and production environments promptly
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet business requirements and technical standards
