Job Title: Human Resources Intern

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Job Type: Full-time Internship (4โ€“12 Months)

Job Summary:

Bank of China (Canada) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to support the Human Resources team in delivering a broad range of HR services across the organization.

This internship provides hands-on exposure to multiple HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training and development, HR operations, reporting, compliance, and employee engagement initiatives . The successful candidate will gain valuable experience working in a federally regulated financial institution while supporting day-to-day HR operations and strategic HR projects.

What You Will Do:

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Assist with job postings, candidate sourcing, resume screening, and interview coordination.
  • Schedule interviews and communicate with candidates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Support pre-employment checks and onboarding administration.

HR Operations & Administration

  • Maintain employee records and HR databases while ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding documentation.
  • Support HR filing, document management, and employee record maintenance.

Learning & Development

  • Assist in coordinating internal training sessions and professional development programs.
  • Maintain training records and prepare training materials when required.
  • Support employee learning initiatives and training logistics.

HR Reporting & Analytics

  • Assist with HR reporting, workforce metrics, and data analysis.
  • Prepare spreadsheets, dashboards, presentations, and HR reports.
  • Support HR projects involving employee data and organizational reporting.

Employee Engagement & Corporate Events

  • Assist with employee engagement activities, wellness initiatives, and internal events.
  • Support planning and execution of staff meetings, recognition programs, and team-building activities.

HR Compliance & Policy Support

  • Assist in maintaining HR policies, procedures, and compliance-related documentation.
  • Support internal audits and HR compliance reviews.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices, employment legislation, and industry trends.

Special Projects

  • Participate in HR process improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Provide administrative and project support to the Human Resources team.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Commerce, Psychology, or a related field .
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite , particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint .
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous administrative, customer service, or office experience is considered an asset.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is considered an asset.
