Summer Communications Assistant

Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service (TNPS)

We are hiring a Summer Communications Assistant to support social media, video, photography, website updates, and community events. This is a hands-on opportunity to build practical skills and gain real experience in a busy police service.

You will work under the direction of the Communications Specialist and help create and organize content across TNPS platforms while supporting staff and community engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and support content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok
  • Capture photo and video at events, police activities, and recruitment initiatives
  • Assist with short-form video (Reels, TikToks, event recaps, recruitment content)
  • Taking photos and videos at major community and summer events
  • Support social media campaigns, including captions, scheduling, and planning
  • Update website content using WordPress
  • Create basic graphics using Canva or Adobe tools
  • Organize and maintain photo and video files
  • Assist with newsletters and other communications materials
  • Support officers and departments with communications needs
  • Maintain confidentiality and use good judgement with sensitive information

Qualifications

  • Prefer candidates currently enrolled or college or university. High school students may be considered.
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Experience using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or TikTok
  • Experience creating video or digital content
  • Basic experience with Canva, Adobe tools, or Microsoft 365
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Professional, reliable, and respectful approach
  • Ability to obtain a police security check

Extra Experience That Helps

  • Experience with WordPress or social media scheduling tools
  • Photography or video editing experience
  • Experience supporting events or campaigns
  • Interest in communications, public safety, or community work
  • Familiarity with Tsuut’ina Nation or Indigenous communities

This is a summer student position. Evening and weekend will be required depending on events and operational needs.

SCHEDULE: Full time

SALARY RANGE: $21-$26/hr depending on experience
